Men's Soccer Opens Atlantic 10 Play At Saint Louis

Minutemen take on Billikens on Saturday night under the lights.
AMHERST, Mass. - It's the official start of the Atlantic 10 campaign as the UMass men's soccer team heads to Saint Louis taking the Billikens under the lights at Hermann Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 PM ET (7 PM CT) and the match will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
The Minutemen (5-2-2) are coming off a 3-0 win over Hartford last Saturday at Rudd Field. The Minutemen have been strong this year at home with a 5-0-1 record on the friendly pitch - their best home start since going 6-0-0 in 1997.
Alex DeSantis leads UMass with three goals and three assists for nine points. Davis Smith is the second leading scorer entering the weekend with a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Jack Fulton has had the hot boot of late with a pair of goals in the last two outings.
Defensively, the Minutemen have pitched three shutouts behind a staunch back line. Keeper Bardia Asefnia sports a 0.85 goals-against-average and a 0.784 save percentage on the year having allowed just eight goals.
Overall, UMass has been a strong second half team scoring eight of their 13 goals this season while conceding just three.
The Billikens enter the weekend with a 2-4-1 overall record after falling 3-1 to Denver on Tuesday. Prior to that, Saint Louis earned a 2-0 win over then No. 5 Stanford.
Following the trip to Saint Louis, the Minutemen will return home to host Vermont on Tuesday to close out the non-conference slate before returning to Atlantic 10 play on Saturday against Duquesne. Saturday's match against the Dukes will also mark the program's Alumni Weekend which will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the 2007 College Cup squad.
