Regular-Season Finale as Women's Lax Heads to Duquesne

Minutewomen looking to post seventh-straight perfect run through A-10 play.
AMHERST, Mass. - For the seventh consecutive year, the UMass women's lacrosse team will look to post a perfect run through Atlantic 10 play as the Minutewomen head to Duquesne on Saturday afternoon (12 p.m.) in Pittsburgh. The Minutewomen (13-3, 8-0 A-10) have won an NCAA record 53 consecutive league games dating back to the 2011 season.
UMass has already locked up the A-10 regular-season title after last week's win over George Mason along with the No. 1 seed for next week's Atlantic 10 Championship tournament. The Minutewomen will be playing for their league-record ninth straight championship title, 10th overall, and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Overall, this will be a big weekend for A-10 teams with Richmond, George Mason and Saint Joseph's currently tied for 2nd with 6-2 records in league action. With a 5-3 record, Davidson could also improve its position in the tournament seeding. La Salle and VCU are tied for sixth at 3-5, while George Washington (2-6) sits just behind.
UMass continues to be led by a balanced scoring effort highlighted by Holly Turner and Hannah Burnett who have 67 and 61 points, respectively. Turner has 31 goals and a team-best 36 assists, while Burnett is having a break-out year as a scorer with a team-best 51 goals. A three-time A-10 Player of the Week, Burnett tied her school-record of eight goals in a game last week against George Mason including five crucial second-half goals as the Minutewomen came-from-behind for the win.
Kiley Anderson is next on the scoring list with 36 goals, while Callie Santos and Hannah Murphy each have 32 goals. Overall, Santos has eclipsed the 50-point mark while Murphy and Cerasi are just behind with 44 and 40 points, respectively.
Defensively, four-time A-10 Defender of the Week Sarah Crowley leads the squad with a UMass single-season record 40 caused turnovers to pair with 46 groundballs and 40 draw controls. Allison Ryan is just behind with 27 caused turnovers and 33 groundballs. Lauren Hiller has started all 16 games with an 11.08 goals-against-average and a .438 save percentage while posting a 12-3 record in her rookie season. Aileen Kelly earned her first win of the year last week against George Mason and has a 6.76 goals-against-average and a .613 save percentage in seven games played this year.
Murphy continues to be one of the top midfielders in the country and one of the top draw specialists in the history of the NCAA. She currently ranks sixth all-time in the history of the NCAA with 465 draw controls needing just five to move into fifth and 29 more to take over fourth. This year, she has re-set her single-season program record with 155 draws which leads the country entering the weekend.
Along with Murphy, Crowley also ranks among the nation's elite at No. 8 in caused turnovers per game (2.50). As a team, the Minutewomen lead the nation in draw controls per game (17.19) and free position percentage (0.588). UMass ranks second nationally in points per game (25.25) and assists per game (9.81), while ranking seventh in scoring offense (15.44). Defensively, UMass is third in caused turnovers per game (12.69) and fifth in groundballs per game (22.38).
In the UMass record book, Turner now ranks 10th in career points (165) and is tied for fourth in career assists (83). Murphy holds the school record for career draw controls and has moved into ninth for career groundballs (136), while Crowley now ranks fifth for caused turnovers (82). The 2017 squad ranks fourth in points (404), first in points per game, second in goals per game (15.44), third in assists (147) and first in assists per game.
