Quick Start Leads Women's Lax Past St. Bona 19-5

Minutewomen use eight-goal run in opening 14 minutes.
OLEAN, N.Y. - A quick start lead the UMass women's lacrosse team to a 19-5 win at St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon marking its 10th straight win of the season and NCAA-record 51st consecutive against an Atlantic 10 foe. Just 75 seconds into the start of the game, the Minutewomen jumped out to a 3-0 lead which extended to 8-0 over the first 14 minutes of play.
The win improves UMass to 11-3 overall this season and 6-0 in A-10 play, while the Bonnies fall to 3-0 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Minutewomen will close out their home schedule next weekend with a pair of games at Garber Field against George Washington on Friday, April 21 and George Mason on Sunday, April 23.
Kiley Anderson led UMass in the scoring column for the second straight game with five goals giving her 10 for the weekend of play. Holly Turner eclipsed the 50-point plateau for the season with a two goal, three assist effort while Cassidy Doster also had a pair of goals and three assists. Abby Walker and Hannah Murphy each had three goals rounding out the top scorers. Emma Dotsikas notched her first career goal in the game as well.
Defensively, Murphy tied her career-high with five caused turnovers while adding six draw controls and five groundballs. Taylor Fischer also had five caused turnovers and five groundballs marking career-best marks in both categories. Allison Ryan notched four caused turnovers to match her career-high and scooped up four groundballs as well. In cage, Lauren Hiller made five saves while allowing two goals in 45 minutes of work. Aileen Kelly closed out the final 15 minutes of play making five saves as well while allowing three goals.
As a team, UMass caused 22 of St. Bonaventure's 23 team turnovers - just two shy of the program's single game record of 24 set against UMass Lowell in 2015.
The Bonnies were led by Scarlet Jaworski who scored a pair of goals, while three others had one. Morgan Conroy made 17 saves in cage while allowing 17 goals in 53 minutes of work. Kerrigan Cummins played the final seven minutes allowing two goals with no saves.
Overall, UMass held a 39-to-20 shot advantage and a 34-to-21 edge in groundballs.

That was followed by quick goals from Turner and Doster as UMass took a 3-0 lead with just 75 seconds off the clock. Over the next 12 minutes, that lead expanded to 8-0 - a run which included a man-down goal by Walker. The Bonnies finally got on the scoreboard at the 14:40 mark of the first half. UMass scored four more goals highlighted by a behind-the-back score from Anderson, who also tacked on the final goal of the first half with 18 seconds remaining, as the Minutewomen to a 12-1 lead into intermission.
The second half saw UMass score five of the first six goals with running clock putting the Minutewomen up 17-2 at the 16:18 mark. Walker and Stephanie Croke each scored in the final two minutes of play following a three-goal spurt by the Bonnies to give the final score.
The one-goal allowed in the first half marked the fewest allowed in a half this season.

The women's championship weekend will be hosted in conjunction with the Divisions I, II, and III men's championships.
