Women’s Lacrosse Heads to No. 5 Syracuse on Saturday

AMHERST, Mass. – After a thrilling win at Jacksonville last Sunday, the UMass women's lacrosse team heads back out on the road this Saturday to No. 5 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. The 4 p.m. game will be televised on the Time Warner Cable Sports Channel and online at ESPN3.com/WatchESPN.
 
The Minutewomen enter the game with a 1-2 overall record after loses against Boston College and Colorado. The Orange are 3-0 to start the year.
 
Holly Turner leads the Minutewomen with 12 points this season on seven goals and five assists. Hannah Murphy is tied with Turner for the team lead in goals with seven as well. Nine different Minutewomen have scored goals so far this season.
 
As one of the nation's top draw specialists, Murphy also leads UMass with 21 on the year highlighted by 11 on Sunday against the Dolphins. She and Syracuse draw specialist Morgan Widner (41 draws) will be a key focus of the game on Sautrday.
 
In goal, Lauren Hiller has made all three starts with a 14.05 goals-against-average and a 0.400 save percentage.
 
Syracuse is led by Riley Donahue who has seven goals and seven assists. Emily Hawryshuk leads the Orange in goals with eight. Nicole Levy is second on the team in points with four goals and six assists.
 
Asa Goldstock has been the goalie of record with a 5.90 goals-against-average and a 0.600 save percentage.
 
Led by Widner's draws, the Cuse offense is averaging 17.33 goals per game while the Orange have allowed just 6.33 on the year.
 
Following the weekend, UMass will return to action on Sunday, March 5 when the Minutewomen host Connecticut at Garber Field. The game is set for a 1 p.m. opening draw and it will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
