Women’s Lax Heads to Florida to Face Colorado, Jacksonville

No. 16 Minutewomen take on Buffs Friday at Stetson before heading to Dolphins on Sunday.
AMHERST, Mass. – It's off to sunny Florida for the UMass women's lacrosse team this weekend as the No. 16 Minutewomen face a pair of tough opponents in the Sunshine State. On Friday afternoon, UMass will take on Colorado at Stetson's Athletic Training Center before then heading to Jacksonville on Sunday.
The weekend will be just the second time the Minutewomen have played both opponents. UMass defeated Colorado 17-4 at McGuirk Stadium back in March 2014, the Buffs first season as a program, while the only meeting against the Dolphins was a 13-8 first win in the 2015 NCAA First Round.
Colorado is coming off its first-ever win against a ranked opponent after defeating No. 9 Northwestern 11-10 in overtime on Sunday in Boulder. Jacksonville narrowly fell to Ohio State, 13-12, on Sunday as well.
UMass started the season with a tough loss to No. 17 Boston College at Garber Field snapping a 22-game home win streak which dated back to 2014. The opening four games are one of the Minutewomen's most challenging stretches in recent memory with a pair of ranked teams in the Eagles and No. 5 Syracuse along with the Buffs who currently hold the No. 1 RPI in the country.
Holly Turner led the UMass offense in the season-opener against Boston College with four goals and an assist. Hannah Murphy and Cassidy Doster each tallied a pair of goals as well. Freshman Lauren Hiller earned the start in goal making nine saves in her first career outing.
