Minutewomen Breeze By Yale, Split Doubles With Dartmouth

Yrazusta, Moreno and Kovacevic go undefeated during Big Green Invitational Day Two
HANOVER, N.H. - University of Massachusetts tennis swept doubles and took four of five singles matches from Yale before the Minutewomen split four doubles tilts with Dartmouth during the second day of the Big Green Invitational. In total, the Maroon and White ended 9-3 overall on the afternoon, including three victories each from Janja Kovacevic, Laura Moreno and Ana Yrazusta.
During doubles play against Yale, Yrazusta and Moreno downed Samantha Martinelli and Sunday Swett with ease, 6-0. Ruth Crawford and Kovacevic worked for a 6-4 win over Amy Yang and Elizabeth Zordani at No. 2 while Martina Bocchi and Ashley Avery sealed the sweep with a 6-3 win over Sonal Shrivastava and Caroline Amos.
Singles competition also featured decided outcomes by the Minutewomen at No. 2-5 singles. Yrazusta set down Yang 6-2, 6-1 (No. 2) and Kovacevic bested Zordani 6-1, 6-1 (No. 3). Moreno outperformed Shrivastava 6-1, 6-2 while Bocchi downed Swett 6-2, 6-4.
The Minutewomen added a second doubles series to Saturday's slate with four matches against Dartmouth.
Yrazusta and Moreno avenged their ITA Northeast Regional Championships doubles loss to Dartmouth's Kristina Mathis and Racquel Lyn with a 6-3 triumph in the Big Green Invitational. Crawford and Kovacevic added a 6-4 victory over Maddie Hwang and Allison McCann at No. 2 doubles.
Dartmouth salvaged a split as Chuyang Guan and Jasmien Abidi set back Bocchi and Avery 7-5 and Jovana Bogicevic and Meghan Bernard fell to Allison Chuang and Shannon Mukerji 6-2.
The Minutewomen wrap up the fall season and play at the 2017 Big Green Invitational on Sunday with singles competition against Dartmouth at Noon.
