Tuesday Tilt As Men's Soccer Hosts Albany

Minutemen and Great Danes set for 4 p.m. kickoff at Rudd Field.
AMHERST, Massachusetts - Looking to bounce back from a tough 2-1 loss at Boston University on Saturday night, the UMass men's soccer team returns to Rudd Field on Tuesday afternoon (4 p.m.) to host Albany. Admission and parking are free to all and the game will be streamed live on the UMass/Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
In Saturday's loss, Alex DeSantis scored the Minutemen's (0-4-1) lone goal tying him for the team lead with three points on the year. He and Brandon Merklin each have a goal and an assist in the first five matches.
After primarily defensive-oriented first halves through the first four contests of the season, Saturday's game saw all three goals of the night scored prior to intermission. Prior to the match, UMass had surrendered just one goal on a penalty kick against Saint Joseph's in the first half.
Jorge Becerra anchors the defense having started all five games in goal while posting a 2.30 goals-against-average and a 0.707 save percentage.
Albany enters the match with a 1-2-1 overall record following a pair of 3-0 losses over the weekend on the road at DePaul and Loyola-Chicago. Tuesday's match will be the Great Danes' third road fixture as part of five-straight away from home.
Alfonso Pinheiro leads Albany with a pair of goals, while Luke Palmateer has the only other goal of the season. Danny Vitiello has started all four matches in goal with a 1.89 goals-against-average and a 0.714 save percentage.
Following the Albany match-up, UMass will remain home as Brown visits Rudd Field on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
