2017 Softball Schedule Announced

AMHERST, Mass. University of Massachusetts softball and head coach Kristi Stefanoni announced the 2017 schedule on Monday. The Minutewomen will host 11 home games at Sortino Field with a roster comprised of four seniors, one junior, six sophomores and a freshmen class of seven.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
UMass opens the season with tournaments in Madeira Beach, Florida (hosted by Eastern Michigan, Feb. 17-19), at Baylor (Feb. 24-26), at Mississippi State (March 3-5) and at UC Davis (March 10-12). Non-conference match-ups also include Lehigh and University of the Pacific (at Pacific), Boston University, Farleigh Dickinson, Connecticut, Boston College and Bryant.
 
The A-10 slate begins Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26, with three games vs. St. Bonaventure, in Amherst, Massachusetts. The postseason stretch begins with the Atlantic 10 Tournament, hosted by George Mason May 10-13, in Fairfax, Virginia. The NCAA Regional (May 19-21) and NCAA Super Regional (May 26-28) will be held on campuses throughout the country with the Women's College World Series set for June 1-5 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

RECAP
In 2016, the Minutewomen won 16 of their last 20 games, including six shutouts, two of which came to open the Atlantic 10 Championship. Originally picked seventh in the preseason poll, the Minutewomen finished third in the regular-season standings and at the Atlantic 10 Championship. The 26 wins and 15 conference victories set team bests for Stefanoni's three campaigns as the program leader.
