Five Advance to ITA Round of 64 For UMass Tennis

Four Minutewomen win in opening round; Kovacevic to play first match on Saturday.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Four Minutewomen advanced from the opening round to the Round of 64 on Friday as day two of the ITA Northeast Regionals finished. Brittany Collens, Ruth Crawford, Ana Yrazusta and Anna Woosley all won their opening round singles matches to advance to Saturday play.
Janja Kovacevic earned a ninth seed overall earning a bye on Friday and will begin competition on Saturday.
While the singles play saw success, UMass was knocked out of competiton in doubles action. The tandem of Yrazusta and Kovaceiv fell 8-7 in a tightly contested match against Syracuse. The other doubles pair for the Minutewomen of Crawford and Woosely picked up a win in the Round of 64 against Lehigh (8-4) before falling to Drexel in another tightly played match (8-7) in the Round of 32.
Yrazusta defeated Taylor Cosme of Brown (6-4, 6-4) while Collens bested Michelle Eisenberg of Binghamton (7-5, 6-3). Collens earned her way into the Main Draw with a 7-6, 6-4 win over UConn and a 6-4, 6-3 win over Army on Thursday.
Woosley won in three sets over Harvard's Natahsa Gonzalez (6-1, 5-7, 6-4) to advance, while Crawford won against Madison Stevens of Cornell (6-2, 6-2).
Collens will begin Saturday's action against Elizabeth Tsvetkov of Stony Brook beginning at 9 a.m. All other matches will follow after that round finishes. Fans can watch the action all day online by visiting http://www.streamingtennis.com/Yale/.
