Game One

The Rams scored eight runs in the final two innings to break-open a two-run game and take the first game of the series.

Fordham struck first when Sydney Canessa walked to lead off the game, advanced to third on a pair of ground outs and scored on a passed ball.

The Rams added a second unearned run in the third when Sydney Canessa scored from second on a single up the middle by Amy Van Hoven. Canessa had stopped at third but the throw home got away from catcher Olivia Godin, allowing the run to score.

Fordham doubled its lead in the fifth to 4-0 when Mayer hit a 2-run home run over the wall in left center.

UMass got two runs back in the bottom half thanks to a pair of RBI doubles by Lemire and Carbone.

Fordham extended its lead to 12-2 after scoring five in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Lemire collected her second and third RBI of the game in the seventh on a 2-run home run to straight-away center to account for the final score.

Rachel Gillen (13-7) got the win with nine strikeouts in five innings while holding UMass to five hits. Caroline Raymond (6-10) walked six and allowed eight runs in the loss.

Fordham scored the first eight runs in the second game with four each in the first and second frames. Ortiz hit a grand slam in the first inning to put the Rams ahead for good.

The Minutewomen scored their first run of the contest when Kelley and sophomore Tara Klee opened with back-to-back doubles to the same spot in the left field corner.

UMass added its second run in the fourth when Gianna Hathaway was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an Ashton Wince bloop single in the right field grass behind first base.

Mayer and Ortiz each hit 2-run home runs in the sixth to give the Rams a 13-3 edge.
