Sara Plourde Named To Canadian National Team

OTTAWA, Ontario - Former Massachusetts softball All-American Sara Plourde was named to the Canadian National Team on Wednesday.

This marks the second-consecutive year the 3-time Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year has made the squad.

The 17-member team will compete at the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX from July 7-13 in Irvine, California, the Scotiabank Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship from July 15-21 in Surrey, British Columbia and the XIV ISF Women's World Championship, scheduled for August 15-24 in Haarlem, Netherlands.

A 2012 UMass graduate with a degree in Sociology, Plourde recently complete her first season as the pitching coach at Lafayette College.
