PEORIA, Ill. - The Massachusetts men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Bradley in the finals of the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic at Shea Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Davis netted the golden goal for Bradley (2-0) 4:44 into the first overtime session when he rebounded a blocked attempt and slipped it by UMass goalkeeper Nick Ruiz.
UMass (0-1-1) took six shots in the contest with two on goal.
Ruiz made seven saves and was named to the all-tournament team. He also stopped all nine shots he faced on Friday in a double-overtime tie. Defenseman Matt Keys was also voted on to the 11-member team.
Keys and Josh Schwartz led the Minutemen offense with two shots and one on goal apiece.
UMass will return to action next weekend when it travels to Burlington, Vt. for the Windjammer Classic. UMass will face New Hampshire on Friday and tourney host Vermont on Sunday. Both matches will begin at 1:30 p.m.
