Softball Announces Fall Schedule, Alumnae Weekend

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass Softball has announced its fall schedule for 2011, including its annual Alumnae Weekend. The Minutewomen will play an eight-game fall exhibition schedule, with all games taking place at home at the UMass Softball Complex. The fall slate concludes with the annual Alumnae Game on Oct. 8, followed by the banquet that evening, and golf scramble on Oct. 9.
Elaine Sortino's squad will kick off the fall schedule on Saturday, Sept. 17 with it hosts Sacred Heart and Boston College for games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. A week later, Holy Cross comes to Amherst for a Sept. 24 doubleheader beginning at noon. On Oct. 1, Quinnipiac and Bryant visit the UMass Softball Complex for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. games, respectively, and the following day, on Oct. 2, Iona visits UMass for a 1 p.m. twinbill.
Alumnae Weekend begins on Saturday, Oct. 8 with the Alumnae Game at noon at the UMass Softball Complex. All UMass softball alums are encouraged to take part and the event will be open to the public.
The festivities continue on the evening of Oct. 8 with the Annual Softball Banquet. Coach Sortino, her staff, and all friends of the program will use the event as a chance to celebrate and honor the 2011 senior class of Audrey Boutin and Meghan Carta. The banquet will be held in the Marriott Room, on the 11th floor of the Campus Center. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. Tickets to the banquet are $35 per person and reservations can be made by returning the Banquet RSVP Form to:

Alumnae Weekend concludes on Sunday, Oct. 9 with the Annual Golf Scramble at Pine Grove Golf Club in Northampton. The 10 a.m. shotgun start, captain-and-crew (scramble), event costs $125 per person and gets you 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner, snacks, gifts, prizes, and a tax donation. To participate in the golf outing, fill out the Golf Scramble Entry Form and return it to the softball office at the address above.
