Biscardi, Manny Named All-New England First Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn -- Junior midfielder Anthony Biscardi and sophomore attacker Will Manny were named to the 2011 NEILA All-New England First Team. For Biscardi, its the second year in a row he has been All-NEILA. The pair was joined on the second team by junior defenseman Tom Celentani and junior attacker Art Kell. The Minutemen finished the year 10-5 overall and claimed a share of the New England Championship, the team's 22nd NEILA title in history.
Biscardi (Wantagh, N.Y.) was an All-CAA first-team selection in 2011 after being a second-team pick in 2010. He finished third on the team in goals with 20 and has 10 assists for 30 points, third on UMass. Biscardi had eight multi-goal games in 2011 including the CAA Semifinal overtime win at Penn State on May 4. He scored the game-winner in OT to propel UMass into the CAA Championship.
Manny (Massapequa, N.Y.) was a second-team All-CAA selection this season. He led UMass in scoring with 45 points on 22 goals -- for second on the team -- and a team-best 23 assists. He had points in 14 of 15 games this season as he racked up four hat tricks, including three in the last seven games. He has a career-high four goals on three occasions this season: vs. Hartford, at Towson and vs. Drexel. He ranked third in the CAA in points per game (3.0) and fourth in assists (1.53).
Celentani (Levittown, N.Y.) was a force on defense all season as he also earned All-CAA second-team honors. He has started every game for the last two years and had 34 groundballs and 22 caused turnovers this season. He has often drawn the assignment of guarding the opponent's top attackman. In the OT CAA Semifinal win at Penn State, he keep first-team All-CAA attacker Matt Mackrides off the scoreboard and forced the turnover in overtime that led to Biscardi's winning goal.
Kell (Westford, Mass.) led UMass in goals in 2011 with 28 and finished second on the team in points with 44, including 16 assists -- second best on the team. Kell finished fourth in the CAA in goals per game with 1.87 and fourth in points per game (2.93). He had 10 multi-goal games. Kell set the NCAA mark for most assists in a game this season with six against Hartford on Feb. 19.
