AMHERST, Mass. - UMass men's lacrosse attack Will Manny and women's lacrosse attack Jesse O'Donnell were named the UMass Co-Athletes of the Week on Monday. Manny tied a career high with four goals in a come-from-behind victory at Towson on Saturday while O'Donnell picked up three goals and added an assist in a 16-10 win at Saint Bonaventure Sunday afternoon. Both student-athletes will be honored at Wednesday's UMass Sports Luncheon, beginning at 12:15 PM in Room 1009 of the Campus Center.
Manny scored two of his four goals in the fourth quarter of the Towson game, helping the Minutemen erase two-goal deficits before ultimately winning in overtime, 9-8. Manny scored both of his fourth-quarter goals in transition off passes from Anthony Biscardi. Both goals cut two-goal Towson leads to just one as the Massapequa, N.Y., native scored with 5:01 left in regulation to make it 7-6 and 2:40 left in the fourth to make it 8-7.
For the season, Manny is tied for the team lead in points at 31 with 16 goals and leads the team with 15 assists.
O'Donnell (Chicago, Ill.) has 23 goals and seven assists in 13 games this season, and used her eighth multi-goal game of the season on Sunday to help the Minutewomen improve to 11-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 on the road with a 16-10 win at Saint Bonaventure. Earlier in the week, she scored two goals and added two assists in a 13-6 victory over Richmond at McGuirk Stadium.
Both teams will be in action this weekend in Amherst as the men's team hosts Drexel on Saturday at 1 PM on Garber Field while the women's squad will take on George Washington on Friday at 4 PM before battling Richmond Sunday for a noontime matchup.
