AMHERST, Mass. - UMass senior midfielder Bobby Hayes has been named a USILA Scholar All-American. It marks the fourth straight year that UMass has had an honoree following Tim Balise, Sean Krygier and Brian Jacovina. Hayes continues to gain honors as he has been named All-CAA, All-New England and a New England Scholar-Athlete. He graduated with a 3.5 GPA in Marketing.

Hayes played in the North-South All-Star Game with fellow senior captain Diogo Godoi last Friday. A First-Team All-New England pick and Second-Team All-CAA, Hayes was third on the team in scoring and had points in all 14 games this season. He finished with career-best of 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points. He had six multi-goal games including the first four games of the season. He netted a career-best four goals in the opener at Sacred Heart on Feb. 12.

In addition to the recent four, Harold Drumm and Mike DelPercio were also USILA Scholar All-Americans in 1998.

The USILA Scholar All-America Program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee chooses an overall team representing Divisions I, II and III, and they are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
