BOSTON, Mass. - Two former UMass All-American lacrosse players were selected in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft on Dec. 14. All-Pro Kevin Leveille was selected in the third round by the Toronto Nationals while 2006 grad Jake Deane is headed to the Chesapeake Bayhawks, being picked in the fifth round.
Both Leveille played for the Chicago Machine last season, which will no longer be in the MLL. Deane saw action with the Toronto Nationals.
Leveille was named to the MLL All-Time 10-Year Anniversary Team this past season. The former UMass Minuteman impacted the Chicago Machine's offensive efforts to bring the franchise its best season in 2010. After being drafted ninth overall in the 2003 MLL Collegiate Draft, Leveille spent three seasons with the Boston Cannons and helped bring the team to two playoff berths. Leveille finished tied for third in goals scored this season with 24 and added nine assists to his total of 33 points. Fifth in the MLL All-Time Scoring Rankings, Leveille has 230 goals and 298 points for his career.
Deane has played in 39 MLL games since 2006 with Long Island, Chicago and Toronto. This last year, he had two goals for the Nationals. He has 196 career groundballs and 18 career goals with seven assists.
