UMass Lacrosse Announces 2011 Schedule
November 30, 2010 | Men's Lacrosse
Nov. 30, 2010
Amherst, Mass. - Two home games against Army and Delaware, both 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, highlight the 2011 UMass men's lacrosse schedule, which was announced by Head Coach Greg Cannella on Tuesday. The Minutemen will also square off against another member of last year's national field in Hofstra later in the season as part of the ESPNU Warrior Classic on April 23.
The Minutemen kick off the regular season against the Black Knights at Garber Field on February 12 at 1 PM. The Black Knights upset No. 2 Syracuse in the NCAA First Round last season in double overtime, 9-8, before falling to Cornell in the Quarterfinals.
Following a road game at Hartford on February 19, UMass will return to Amherst for a two-game home stand with Ohio State (Feb. 26) and Brown (Mar. 5). The Minutemen will then look to continue their recent success against Albany on March 8 in New York, a team that Massachusetts knocked off 11-6 last season.
During Spring Break, UMass will head to Providence for a Tuesday game against the Friars on March 15 at 4 PM. The Minutemen will begin CAA play against Penn State on March 19 in a noontime start at Garber Field. Massachusetts will then hit the road for games against Harvard (March 29), Saint Joseph's (April 2) and Towson (April 9). The Minutemen will be looking for some revenge after the Tigers bounced UMass in the CAA Semifinals last season, 13-6.
The Minutemen will finish the regular season with two out of three games at home, beginning with Drexel on April 16. Massachusetts will once again compete in the ESPNU Warrior Classic on April 23 vs. Hofstra. The game is doubleheader with Syracuse battling Rutgers in the second game. UMass takes on Delaware on April 29, in the first night game at Garber Field since 2004, before CAA Playoffs begin on May 4.
