Softball Holds Annual Banquet

AMHERST, Mass. - On Saturday, the UMass softball team held its annual banquet at the Mullins Center's Massachusetts Room. Head coach Elaine Sortino and her staff used the event as a way to celebrate what was an incredibly successful 2009 campaign with student-athletes, families, alumni, and supporters. The opportunity was also taken to honor the Minutewomen's six departed seniors: Brandice Balschmiter, Davina Hernandez, Whitney Mollica, Carly Morin, Samantha Salato, and Emily Wehr.
The banquet was part of an eventful UMass softball weekend. On Friday, UMass softball legend and Olympian Danielle Henderson was one of six inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame. On Saturday, the program held its annual Alumni Game at the UMass Softball Complex. After Saturday night's banquet, the team held its Annual Golf Scramble Tournament at the Pine Grove Golf Club in Northampton.
