Softball Announces Fall Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass softball head coach Elaine Sortino has released the Minutewomen's 2008 fall schedule. The 20-time Atlantic 10 champions will play eight games this fall, including the annual Alumni Game. The team will also be holding its seventh annual golf scramble tournament on Oct. 12 at the Pine Grove Golf Club.
UMass begins its fall slate hosting three-way play on Saturday, Sept. 20 with Iona and Boston College coming to the UMass Softball Complex. Iona and BC will start things off at 11 a.m. UMass will then take on the Gaels at 1 p.m. and play the Eagles at 3 p.m.
The following day, Sept. 21, the Minutewomen and Iona will play once more at noon.
The weekend of Seot. 27 and 28 will see Sortino's squad head to Storrs, Conn. where UConn hosts the Minutewomen and Central Connecticut. UMass will play Saturday at 11 a.m. vs. UConn, 1 p.m. vs. CCSU, and on Sunday at 11 a.m. vs. UConn.
Its back to the UMass Softball Complex on Sunday, Oct. 5 when Central Connecticut comes to town for a game at noon.
The fall season concludes on Saturday, Oct. 11 with the ever-popular Alumni Game. First pitch for that contest is set for noon.
Softball Alumni Weekend continues the following day, Sunday, Oct. 12, with the Seventh Annual UMass Softball Golf Scramble. The tournament is being played at Pine Grove Golf Club in Northampton with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. For the $125 per player fee, golfers get: greens fees, cart, dinner, snacks, gifts, prizes, and a tax donation. Entry forms for the tournament can be found by clicking HERE.
