Masha Pozar Named A-10 Player Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Masha Pozar was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week alongside Jill Ducro of Xavier. This is Pozar's first award of the year. In her first match of the spring season against Albany on Feb. 3, Pozar beat the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles players winning 6-3, 6-3 and 8-3 respectively.
Pozar is now 6-2 overall in singles matches during her senior campaign, 2-0 in the No. 1 spot and 4-2 in tournament play. She is 11 wins away from tying the career singles wins record set last year by her former doubles partner Michele Spiess.
She is also 11-3 on the season in No. 1 doubles play with partner freshman Candynce Boney and is only 5 wins away from tying the career doubles record at UMass held now by Caroline Steele (1994-98)and Susan Hyams (2000-04).
