Stacy Cullington Named A-10 Player Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts junior second baseman Stacy Cullington (Encinitas, Calif.) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. Cullington hit .600 with four home runs and nine RBI last week as the Minutewomen extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 24 games and also ran the second-longest overall winning streak to 18 games in a row. Cullington helped the Minutewomen remain the only unbeaten team in league play at 14-0 heading into the final week of the regular season. This is Cullington's third A-10 Player of the Week award this season.
Cullington batted a team-high .600 (6-10) on the week with four home runs, nine RBI, a 1.800 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage while not committing an error in the field. She now has 14 home runs this season which is tied for the UMass and Atlantic 10 single-season records. Cullington had two home runs in in one game against Boston University (April 26) as well as the second game of the George Washington doubleheader (April 29) to tie a UMass single-game record while setting a new school record with seven RBI vs. the Terriers. Cullington has now homered six times in her last 18 at bats.
The Minutewomen will close out the regular season with five home games this week at the UMass Softball Complex before hosting the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship May 9-12. The homestand continues with a single-game against Boston College (Tuesday at 5:00 PM), Fordham (Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday at 12:00 PM) and then the Senior Day doubleheader vs. La Salle (Sunday at Noon).
