Bailey Sanders Named A-10 Co-Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman pitcher Bailey Sanders (Durham, Conn.) was named the Atlantic 10 Softball co- Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon. This is the second award of the season for Sanders as she was an earlier Pitcher of the Week. She pitched a complete game victory at Boston College and also posted her first collegiate save at Charlotte as the Minutewomen went 3-0 and improved their winning streak to 11 games.
Sanders went 1-0 with a 0.88 ERA and also recorded her first collegiate save on the week as the Minutewomen went 3-0, including a sweep at Charlotte over the weekend. The Minutewomen have now won 11 straight games and are tied with Alabama for the nation's longest home winning streak at 21 games. Sanders pitched a two-hitter for a complete-game win Wednesday at Boston College. She then needed just seven pitches to record a perfect inning of relief Saturday at Charlotte while recording her first collegiate save. On the week, Sanders yielded just two hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out five. Opponents hit just .080 against her. In Wednesday's 7-1 win at BC, Sanders did not allow her first hit until the fourth inning, a leadoff home run.
Massachusetts (22-12-1) returns to action Tuesday, April 17, with a single-game at Connecticut set for a 4:00 PM first pitch.
