AMHERST, Mass. -- UMass travels across the Commonwealth for a 4:00 p.m. game Tuesday afternoon at Boston College. The Minutewomen are red hot having won 14 of their last 15 games. UMass is coming off a 5-0 week including doubleheader sweeps of Saint Joseph's and Temple. BC is now 16-20 overall after being swept at George Tech over the weekend. Here are some streaks and notes heading into the Minutewomen's mid-week clash with the Eagles.
• At the top of the order, Amanda Morin has hit safely in 22 of her last 25 games. She is batting .440 in this time.
• Candice Molinari is on a 10-game hitting streak. She is batting .500 in this time. Molinari has also been successful on 59 of her last 60 stolen base attempts dating back to the 2004 season.
• With five RBI vs. Temple last Sunday, Whitney Mollica broke the all-time school single-season RBI mark. Mollica now has 47 RBI in 35 games this season. Kim Gutridge held the previous mark of 45 in 59 games during the 1998 season.
• Mollica's two home runs against the Owls, one in each game, moved her into a tie with Brandi Cross for the most in one season by a freshman (nine). Cross did this in 2000.
• Mollica is hitting .500 with 37 RBI and a 1.564 OPS (slugging pct. plus on-base pct.) in her last 20 games. She has hit safely in 19 of those contests with 11 multi-hit and 12 multi-RBI games.
• In the most recent NCAA statistics report (April 9), Mollica ranked third in RBI per game, 22nd in slugging percentage and 32nd in batting average.
• Lauren Proctor is batting .447 in the last 13 games.
• Lesley Ferrara is 5-for her last 11 at the plate. She recently had career-highs of three hits, two runs scored and two RBI against Temple.
• Brandice Balschmiter moved into seventh-place all-time on the single-season charts with her 186 strikeouts. She ranks first in the A-10 in ERA (0.76) and strikeouts while her 18 wins are second. Her ERA is also good for 15th in the country.
