Softball Washed Out At NFCA Leadoff Classic

AMHERST, Mass. -- Saturday's heavy rains in the Columbus, Ga., area not only forced the cancellation of Saturday's games, but also resulted in a washout of Sunday's action at the 2006 NFCA Leadoff Classic. The city experienced two and a quarter inches of rain Saturday, making the playing surfaces at the South Commons Complex unplayable.

UMass went 0-2 in pool play on Friday with losses to #12/13 Northwestern, 7-2, and Illinois State, 5-2.

The Minutewomen will return to action March 9-12 at the University of South Florida-adidas Spring Break Invitational.
