Columbus, Ga. - An errant throw on a double steal attempt by Missouri (4-5) broke a a scoreless game in the sixth inning and gave the Tigers the eventual 1-0 win over the No. 25 Massachusetts (3-3) softball team this afternoon at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga.

The Minutewomen were cold at the plate, mustering four hits over seven. UMass' biggest scoring threat came in the top of the fourth as junior Emily Robustelli (Stamford, Conn.) led off the inning with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice by senior Teri Rooney (Visalia, Calif.), Junior Brandi Cross (Diamond Bar, Calif.) followed it up with a single, advancing Robustelli to third, but the Minutewomen were unable to score the runner.

With the game scoreless through six and a half innings, Missouri got runners on first and second with no outs with an infield single and fielder's choice. After a strike out by ace Jennifer Hadley (Bristol, Conn.), the Tigers attempted a double-steal. UMass tried to pick the runner heading to third but an errant throw allowed the game-winner to cross the plate.

Hadley finished the game with eight strike outs while scattering just two hits and two walks. UMass left seven runners stranded on base.

The Minutewomen continue tournament action with a game against No. 14 Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
