Kaila Holtz Named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts sophomore Kaila Holtz (North Vancouver, BC) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office. It is the second such honor for Holtz this year.
Holtz improved her record to 12-1 on the mound with wins over Brown (6-3) on Thursday and Rhode Island (2-0) on Sunday. Against Brown, she scattered four hits on the day while striking out seven in game one of the doubleheader sweep for UMass. Versus Rhode Island, she helped the 23rd-ranked Minutewomen to their 11th consecutive Atlantic 10 regular season title by hurling a two-hit shutout over the Rams.
In her 14 innings last week, Holtz allowed only six hits, no earned runs and fanned 12 batters.
UMass (39-11, 21-0 A-10) concludes its regular season slate versus UConn this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. at the UMass Softball Complex.
