AMHERST, Mass. - The 2000 Olympics in Sydney are just about to begin, which means the gold medal-winning USA softball team is ready to go out and defend its 1996 title. Team USA just wrapped up a perfect 60-0 Central Park to Sydney Tour, and fresh to the team this time around, is former UMass standout pitcher and assistant coach Danielle "Harry" Henderson. Henderson is the only pitcher on the American roster making her Olympic debut at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Several other former UMass standouts and coaches will also be competing in Sydney this month. They include Sarah Jones (USA) and Sarah Lauritzen (Denmark) from Women's Rowing, with head coach Jim Dietz serving as the USA Lightweight coach, Angelique Rodriquez (Puerto Rico) from Women's Diving, Hilary Rose (Great Britain) from Field Hockey and Brianna Scurry (USA) from Women's Soccer.
