ON CARROLL: Moved to short-stick defensive midfield as a senior ... will be expected to take many face-offs this season ... has done a great job at becoming quicker in getting to the ball, getting off the line and getting out of his crouch with a short stick ... will be depended upon along with freshman Bobby Hayes at the 'X' ... has a been a contributor as a long-stick defensman in his first three seasons at UMass, playing mostly on man-down ... a tenacious, strong checker... a blue-collar type of player.
