Isaac Paparo '19 begins his second season on-staff with the University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse program and his first in the role of Volunteer Director of Operations in 2020-21. Paparo, a four-year standout at long-stick midfield and close defense, completed his first season as a volunteer assistant coach on in 2019-20.
Paparo, a two-time all-American for Massachusetts, oversaw the UMass scout team and organized the team's in-game substitutions in 2020.
Paparo graduated as the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers 95, while he totaled 183 groundballs and 29 points via 15 goals and 14 assists. Paparo's points, goals and assists totals rank as the most among long-pole players in team history as well.
In addition to his collegiate success, Paparo was selected in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse and Premier Lacrosse League drafts. He signed with and played for the PLL's Whipsnakes LC during the 2019 season as the Whipsnakes won the inaugural league title. Paparo also competed for the Isreal National Team during the 2018 FIL World Championship, where he won Israel National Team MVP.
Paparo capped his career with a career-high 65 groundballs in 2019 as Massachusetts went 10-5 overall and won the CAA Regular Season Title. The Westport, Connecticut, native also caused 31 turnovers and posted 10 points via seven goals and three assists.
In recognition of his senior season success, Paparo won USILA All-America Second Team, USILA Academic All-America, NEILA All-Region, All-CAA First Team at close defense and long-stick midfield, All-ECAC First Team and NEILA All-Academic Team for his efforts. He is the only known CAA men's lacrosse student-athlete to win All-CAA First Team at two positions in the same season.
