Softball Picks Up Fourth Straight Victory With 7-2 Win Over Sacred Heart

February 15, 2026 | Softball

CHARLESTON, S.C. –– University of Massachusetts softball continues to keep the bats hot securing a 7-2 victory against Sacred Heart on Sunday at Softball Stadium at Patriots Point. UMass improves to 4-6, winning four consecutive contests, while Sacred Heart moves to 1-4 on the season.

Brooke Musch and Olivia Packard had two hits each for UMass, with Packard adding a double. Lily Woodworth, Riley Kairer and Odyssey Torres each had doubles as well, and hit her second home run in as many games.

Sacred Heart opened the game with an early two runs in the top of the first with four hits in the inning–a lead the pioneers would hold onto until the bottom of the fourth.

Packard sparked the Minutewomen offense with a one out double, and following a Brooke Moloney hit by pitch, Musch singled to load the bases. Torres doubled in the following at bat to left center to clear the bases, giving Massachusetts a 3-2 lead. UMass tacked on one more run the bottom of the fifth with a Grace Colucci sacrifice fly plating Woodworth.

In the bottom of the sixth, Moloney worked a lead off walk, and Keefe blasted her second homer of the season down the left field line to extend the UMass lead to 6-2. A bases loaded walk later in the inning gave the Minutewomen a 7-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Pitcher Olivia Cutuli made quick work of Sacred Heart in the top of the seventh, retiring the side in order to cement the Minutewomen's fourth straight victory.

Cutuli (1-0) earned the win for the Minutewomen, holding the Pioneers to just two runs on nine hits, walking zero and striking out two over 7.0 innings. Sam Kowalski (1-2) picked up the loss for Sacred Heart, allowing seven runs on eight hits, walking six and striking out four over 5.2 innings.

Massachusetts returns to action on Friday, Feb. 20 with matchups against Villanova and Florida Atlantic at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla, for the first games of the Joan Joyce Classic.
