Minutewomen Head To A-10 Championship Final, Dispatching Richmond 16-11

RICHMOND, Va. -- Massachusetts women's lacrosse (14-3, 10-0 A-10) clinched its 17th consecutive A-10 Championship Final appearance, defeating Richmond (11-8, 7-3) 16-11 on Friday afternoon at Robins Stadium.  
 
The Minutewomen never trailed in the matchup, holding advantages in shots on goal (26-14), draw controls (17-12) and caused turnovers (8-5). 
 
Kassidy Morris led the scoring charge for the Minutewomen, totaling seven points on five goals and two assists. The Washago, Ontario native has now scored four or more goals in 14 consecutive matchups.  
 
Ava Connaughton had a stellar semifinal from the X position, recording five points on four goals and an assist. Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw secured the third hat trick of the day for Massachusetts, scoring three goals on three shots. 
 
Laure Tolve was all over the field recording two assists to go along with a goal and four draw controls. Jordan Dean continued to dominate in the circle, collecting a game-high 10 draw controls in the semifinal. 
 
The Spiders were led by goalkeeper Abby Francioli who made 10 saves in net.

  • 5: Tessa Shields tallied career-high five assists on the day. 
  • 13: Connaughton recorded her 13th multi-goal game of the season. 
  • 13: Rodriguez-Shaw recorded her 13th multi-goal game of the season. 
  • 14: Morris recorded her 14th consecutive game with four or more goals. 
  • 15: The Minutewomen went a perfect 15-of-18 on clear attempts in the matchup. 
  • 15: Massachusetts has now scored 15 or more goals in 14 of their last 15 games.

A-10 History 
  • Massachusetts is seeking its 12th A-10 Tournament Championship and first since 2021. 
  • The Minutewomen won nine consecutive A-10 Championships from 2009 through 2016. 
  • With the win, Massachusetts advanced to its 17th straight A-10 Championship Final. 
  • The 2025 A-10 Regular Season Champions, Massachusetts has recorded 16 straight seasons with either a regular season or tournament title. 
 
Series History  
  • Friday's matchup marked the 38th meeting between the two programs with Massachusetts holding a 26-12 record all-time in the series. 
  • The Minutewomen earned a convincing 19-10 victory over the Spiders at Garber Field earlier this season. 
  • The two programs had faced each other in the A-10 Championship final each of the last two seasons, with Richmond claiming both matchups.
