Braden Sullivan and Marc Willi had two runs each, alongside Toth, while Anthony Tirado tallied a team-leading three RBI and Sam Hill had two of his own.
UMass took the lead early in the second frame at 4-0. Sullivan and Willi led off with back-to-back walks, as Toth hit an RBI single to left field to drive in Sullivan. McCarthy laid down a bunt up the third base line to load the bases. A hit-by-pitch for Hill helped Willi cross the dish to make it a 2-0 contest, before Tirado singled to left field with Toth and McCarthy scoring to the Minutemen ahead 4-0.
Massachusetts pushed across two more runs in the third to extend its lead. Carter Hanson hit a single to left field to start of the inning, before advancing to second on a ground out. With two outs, Toth doubled to right center field allowing Hanson to score. A single from McCarthy aided Toth to run home and make it a 6-0 game.
In the fourth, a lead off solo home run put Dayton on the board, 6-1. The Flyers plated five in the top half of the fifth to knot the game up at 6-6.
The bottom of the fifth saw the Minutemen reclaim the lead at 8-6 with two more runs. Back-to-back-to-back singles loaded up the bases for UMass. Hill singled to center field, pushing Sullivan across the dish, while Willi came home to make room for Tirado when he was hit by a pitch.
The Flyers got within one at 8-7 with a run scored in the seventh on an error, before tying up the game at eight apiece in the eighth with an RBI single. Dayton plated one more run on a RBI double in the ninth to edge out UMass, 9-8.
