Baseball Drops Rubber Match To George Mason, 12-1

The Minutemen prepare for a midweek contest on the road against UConn on Tuesday, April 22.
UMass falls to 11-22-1 overall on the year and 5-13 in the Atlantic 10, while George Mason improves to 26-14 overall and 12-6 in league competition.
Carter Hanson, Reece McCarthy and Sam Hill tallied two hits each, with Matt Travisano, Braden Sullivan and Michael Toth registering one apiece. Zack Zaetta scored the lone run for UMass, as Travisano recorded an RBI.
George Mason scored first with a two run second inning, before extending its lead to 3-0 in the third. The Patriots put up a three spot in both the fourth and sixth inning to lead 9-0 and added one more run in the top of the seventh.
UMass got on the board in the bottom half of the seventh as Zack Zaetta came across the plate on a fielder's choice to make it a 10-1 game. George Mason was able to score two more runs in the eighth to seal a 12-1 win.
Sam Belliveau (0-4) had the loss for Massachusetts, giving up six runs on eight hits, walking two with no strikeouts in five innings. Brandon Cassedy (5-1) earned the win for George Mason allowing only one run on eight hits, no walks and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Massachusetts travels to Hartford, Connecticut, on Tuesday, April 22, to face UConn at Dunkin' Park. The game is slated for a 6:35 p.m. start and will be streamed on UConn+.
