Minutewomen Dominate Rhode Island 18-8 In First Matchup Since 1982

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts women's lacrosse (4-3, 2-0 A-10) secured a dominant 18-8 victory over Rhode Island (4-3, 0-1) in the first matchup between the regional foes since 1982 Wednesday afternoon at Garber Field.
Kassidy Morris once again led the way offensively scoring five goals on nine shots. Tessa Shields recorded her fifth multi-goal game, tallying four goals and two assists on the afternoon. Shields added three ground balls in the effort as well.
Ava Connaughton paced the Minutewomen in points, recording a career-high seven on four goals and three assists. The Westwood, Massachusetts native also collected three ground balls and three caused turnovers for an all-around effort.
The Rams were led by Caralie Basuel who scored three goals on five shots.
