AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer prepares for two matchups, starting with a road contest against Army West Point on Thursday, August 22, before hosting Rutgers University at Rudd Field on Sunday, August 25 for the home opener. Thursday's game will begin at 3 p.m., while Sunday's contest is slated for 1 p.m., with both games streaming on ESPN+.
 
UMass and Army will meet for only the second time in program history, and the first time since 2013.
 
Keeping Track
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza placed her name on the program's career saves list, ranking eighth after collecting her 208th save at Syracuse last Thursday.
 
Mendoza is one shutout away from etching her name in the career records for the program. With one shutout, she would tie Tammie Easton (1982) for 10th with 12 career shutouts.
 
Additionally, graduate student midfielder Ella Curry is eight games away from putting her name on the career games played list.
 
Scouting Army
The Black Knights hold a 1-0-0 advantage over the Minutewomen in the all-time series. The two programs only met in the 2013 season on September 1, as Army came away with a 2-0 victory.
 
Army stands at 1-1 overall on the year, falling to Wake Forest, 1-0, in its season opener and defeating Manhattan, 3-0, on Sunday. Kaelan Bradley leads the team with three points after scoring a goal and adding an assist against Manhattan. Bella Cooke and Sabrina Rogers have two points with one goal apiece, while Jordan Follenweider and Keira Vesy tallied an assist each. Sage Strohman has played all 180 minutes in net for Army, totaling a .500 goals-against-average and a .944 save percentage. Strohman allowed only one goal, so far, on the season and stopped 17 shots.   
 
Scouting Rutgers
The Minutewomen lead the all-time series with the Scarlet Knights, 10-3-1. First meeting in Amherst on October 5, 1985, Massachusetts defeated Rutgers 3-1 on the day. The two teams met last season on September 10, with Rutgers winning, 1-0. UMass last won against the Scarlet Knights in a 1-0 overtime thriller on September 7, 1994.
 
Rutgers holds a 1-0-1 overall record on the year, winning its season opener, 1-0, over NJIT, and tying Wake Forest, 1-1, last Sunday. Emily Mason and Reilly McGlinn lead the way with two points each, as both notched one goal apiece. Allie Post and Riley Tiernan registered an assist on the season. Olivia Bodmer has seen 180 minutes of action in goal for the Scarlet Knights, compiling a .500 GAA and a .857 save percentage. Bodmer tallied six saves, allowing only one goal on the year, so far.

UMass returns to Rudd Field on Thursday, August 29, welcoming Harvard for a 2 p.m. contest, before heading to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to take on Boston College on Sunday, September 1 at 1 p.m.
