AMHERST, Mass.-Â The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team is ready to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend. The championship will be held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and will take place on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th.
Â
The Minutewomen are coming off a third-place finish as the host of last year's conference meet. The Minutewomen finished with 108.5 points while champion George Mason earned 161 points and runner-up VCU had 130.5 points. At the meet, UMass set two new school records. Megan Frazee won gold in the pole vault with her record-breaking mark of 12' 8.75" and earned herself the women's Most Outstanding Rookie of the Meet. Lillian Kirry on the other hand won the 400m hurdles title in 57.74 seconds to break the meet record, facility record and the program record.
Â
The Minutewomen are just two years removed from their last Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship. UMass' third outdoor title and first since 2001, came on a 123.5-point performance at VCU in Richmond, Virginia.
