Massachusetts Women's Track & Field Finish Weekend At URI

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts women's track & field team finished out the weekend at the URI Coaches Invitational on Saturday.

In the weight throw, Gabriella Pagnini and Jaliyah Burns both finished top-eight, coming in fifth (51' 11") and eighth (49' 10") respectively.

Madelyn Bishop took fifth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 41' 5.75".

Gabrielle Bilong finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 36' 7.75" while Winnie Sekyaya's jump of 36' 2.75" was good for fifth.

Sekyaya also claimed second in the long jump with a personal best mark of 18' 2.25".

Katelyn Gorgenyi and Jennifer Williams finished fourth and seventh in the 60m hurdles with times of 8.83 and 9.01 respectively.

Faith Richardson took third in the 60m dash, finishing with a time of 7.81.

The Minutewomen had two runners in the top eight in the mile as Rebekah James came in third and Amelia Amack finished eighth. Ella Bosselman was right behind, coming in ninth.

As the only UMass runner in the 500m, Sarah Witt took fourth with a time of 1:19.52.

Hannah Rose Beckman and Jaden Young completed the 1000m in times of 3:03.62 and 3:05.27 to claim third and sixth respectively.

Grace Hanafin was the top UMass runner in the 200m, earning sixth with a time of 26.66.

UMass swept the podium in the 3000m, as Sydney Adams, Eugenia Fairhurst, and Anna Todd went first, second, and third. Rylee Davis and Caroline Farley also snuck into the top eight with seventh and eighth place finishes.
The Minutewomen now look ahead to the Atlantic 10 Championship in two weeks when they go down to Virginia Beach on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24.
