Massachusetts Women's Track & Field Sits In Second After Day One Of Atlantic 10 Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The University of Massachusetts women's track & field team completed day one of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships on Friday. The Minutewomen currently sit in second with a score of 31 while George Mason leads with a score of 41.

Highlights from competition:

Megan Frazee took home the first medal of the day for UMass, earning bronze in the pole vault with a mark of 12' 4.25".
In the pentathlon, UMass had two scorers as Madelyn Krohto placed sixth with a score of 3,181 while Frazee followed closely behind in seventh with a score of 3,150.
Jaliyah Burns set the school record in the weight throw with a toss of 56' 0.25" to take sixth and earn three points.
Jordan Lafave took bronze in the long jump with a mark of 19' 1.75".
Both Katelyn Gorgenyi and Jennifer Williams earned spots in tomorrow's 60m hurdle final after placing third and fifth respectively in the prelims. Gorgenyi's time of 8.73 moves her to third all-time at UMass while Williams' time of 8.87 is eighth all-time.
Elise O'Leary placed fourth in the 800m prelims with a time of 2:14.16 to earn a spot in the finals.
Despite not making the 200m finals, Faith Richardson moved into fifth all-time with a time of 25.01
Graduate Student Rebecca Hartman took fifth in the 5000m with a time 17.20.89.
The DMR team consisting of Alex Costantino, Caroline Mullady, Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio, and Rylee Shunney picked up four points for UMass with a time of 11:53.28.

The Atlantic 10 Championships resume tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. The Minutewomen will look to close the ten point gap and take home their fifth Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship.
