Women’s Soccer Places Two On NEWISA All-New England Team

Kane and Recinos tab spots on the All-New England Team.

AMHERST, Mass. – The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) announced its 2023 Division I All-New England Team, placing two members of the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team on the list. Graduate student defender Fiona Kane was named to the Second Team, while junior midfielder Bella Recinos tabbed a spot on the Third Team.
 
The team, which was voted on by NCAA Division I coaches from colleges and universities in New England, is comprised of a First Team, Second Team and Third Team. The First and Second Teams consist of four forwards, four midfielders, four defenders and a goalkeeper. The Third Team was expanded to account for voting ties.

Kane became the program's all-time leader in minutes with 8,025, all-time leader in games played with 89, and all-time leader in games started with 89, to finish out her career with the Minutewomen. Kane started in every contest for Massachusetts this season, averaging over 1,554 minutes. She totaled two points on the year, notching the first only goal of her career on a penalty kick in the 5-0 win at Davidson (9/24). The Easton, Massachusetts, native, took four shots, placing two on target, and played a key role in the Minutewomen's nine shutouts on the season. Kane also earned a spot on the A-10 All-Conference First Team and was placed on the United Soccer Coaches All-East Third Team.
 
Recinos started in 17 of 18 games for the Minutewomen this season, accumulating 1,247 minutes on the pitch. She led the team in points (19), goals (7) and assists (5), while also registering a team-high 35 shots, including a team-best 20 shots on goal. The Winter Park, Florida, native, tallied a team-leading four game-winning goals on the year, tying for second in the A-10 and 75th in the nation. Her 19 points ranked third in the conference, with her seven goals tying for third in the league. Recinos recorded a career-high four points with one goal and a career-best matching two assists, against Loyola Chicago (10/1) to be selected as the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. She also dished out two assists in the 5-0 shutout victory at Davidson (9/24).
 
She became the second Minutewoman in program history to garner the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year accolade and landed on the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Recinos also earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Second Team honors.
