Massachusetts Men's Lacrosse Earns USILA Academic Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse recently earned academic recognition from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) with goalkeeper Matt Knote being named a Division I Scholar All-American, while the Gorillas received Division I Team All-Academic recognition for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
Knote, a sport management major, was also a member of the 2023 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team and was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. He is a 2023 USILA Third Team All-American, an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American and a USA Lacrosse Magazine third team All-American. The 2023 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year earned spots on the All-New England first team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference First team and an All-ECAC Team nod as well.

The four-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week ended the 2023 campaign as the national leader in save percentage (.593) and was tops in the A-10 in goals against average (9.33, fourth nationally) and saves per-game (13.43, 10th nationally). He finished 8-6 on the year after starting all 14 games and has 188 saves to his credit in 829 minutes, 35 seconds between the pipes with 31 ground balls and is a native of Speonk, New York.
 
Knote earned his undergraduate degree this spring in Sport Management and will return to UMass in the fall to pursue his Master of Business Analytics in the Isenberg School of Management.
