#22 UMass Wins Third At Home, Downs Dartmouth 14-6

Charlotte Wilmoth scored five goals for her second straight hat trick while Fiona McGowan added four goals and two assists for six points.
AMHERST, Mass. – The no. 22-ranked Massachusetts women's lacrosse team won its third game of the season and ninth straight regular season game at Garber Field with a 14-6 win over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. The Minutewomen (3-1 Overall) netted six unanswered late in the third and into the fourth quarter after the Big Green (1-1 Overall) scored two straight to cut the UMass lead to two.

Charlotte Wilmoth finished with a game-high five goals to go along with an assist to mark her second consecutive hat trick. Wilmoth opened the game's scoring just under two minutes in with her sixth of the year before adding another with 12:28 remaining to make it 2-0. Wilmoth's five goals give her a team-leading 10 on the season. Wilmoth also picked up her first assist of the season in the first quarter as she found Alex Finn with 7:22 left to make it a 3-1 contest.

Dartmouth scored two consecutive goals twice on the day, first with a pair early in the second quarter to tie at 3-3 on a Catherine Erb goal from Katina Christensen with 8:08 on the clock. The Big Green equalized at 4-4 following Erin Seibel's goal before the Minutewomen rattled off three straight to end the half.

Kassidy Morris scored her seventh of the year off an assist from Amy Moreau to make it a 5-4 game before back-to-back goals from Fiona McGowan gave UMass a 7-4 lead at the break. McGowan netted both goals within a span of 28 seconds and finished the day with four goals and two assists for six points. The senior scored her third straight to open the scoring in the third while extending the UMass advantage to four goals at 8-4.

After Dartmouth pulled within two following a pair of goals, UMass followed by holding the Big Green without a goal for the final 19:48 of regulation. Wilmoth recorded her third to give her the hat trick with less than 30 seconds remaining in the third before Alex Finn connected with Lauren Tolve to push the UMass lead back to four with 11:52 to go.

Follow McGowan's fourth and final goal with 4:22 to go, Wilmoth scored two straight before Moreau's second goal of the year capped off the UMass scoring at 14. Moreau also finished with a pair of assists and secured three draw controls on the afternoon.

Defensively, UMass caused 13 turnovers with Audra Tosone leading the way with four caused turnovers while Hannah Heller and Fiona McGowan added three and two, respectively. Maya Keenan-Gallagher finished with a team-high four draw controls for a UMass squad that was outdrawn by Dartmouth, 13-11.

Gina Carroll recorded her second win of the season in goal for the Minutewomen while Catrina Tobin entered in the second half and finished with a pair of saves and just two goals allowed.

The Minutewomen return to the road for two consecutive games away from home next week and begin action on Wednesday at Holy Cross with a 5:30 p.m. start.
