UMass Hockey's Felix Signs With Lehigh Valley For 2022-23

The defenseman completed his career with the MInutemen having appeared in 140 games, helping UMass to three Hockey East Titles and a National Championship.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey senior defenseman Colin Felix has signed with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the 2022- 23 season. The signing is a homecoming for the Ocean City, New Jersey native, who is the son of the late Chris Felix, who served as the head athletic trainer for the Philadelphia Phantoms from 1996-2004.

Felix began his UMass career with an iron man streak that lasted 124 games and the 20201-22 assistant captain saw action in a total of 140 contests and logged 42 points on four goals and 38 assists. He played in all 41 games as a freshman, helping the Minutemen to the 2018-19 Hockey East Regular Season Championship and the program's first Frozen Four.

During his junior season, Felix was plus 20 and appeared in all 28 games as a pivotal piece of the UMass defense that won the Hockey East Tournament Championship and National Title in 2021. As a senior the Ocean City, New Jersey native put up 10 points (2g, 8a) and was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team after helping UMass repeat as league champions.

The three-time Hockey East All-Academic Team selection leaves Massachusetts ranked 10th in program history in career games played and tied for 13th all-time in career plus-minus at +28.
