Minutewomen Finish Road Trip with 19-5 Win Over Explorers

AMHERST, MA. – The Massachusetts Women's Lacrosse team improved to 13-2 on Thursday with a comfortable 19-5 win over the Explorers of La Salle University. This win had the Minutewomen rise to 7-0 in the Atlantic 10 and keep a hold on the best record in the conference.
Kelly Marra and junior Kylee Bowen led the charge with a hat-trick apiece. The duo scored more than the Explorers by themselves, are truly set an amazing tone for their teammates to build off. It was also a special day for Haley Connaughton, as the graduate student had four assists along with her two goals, causing fits for La Salle.
Senior Gina Carroll and junior Bridgette Wall split time between the posts today, each logging at least a period of action. The result was another win for Carroll, and another combined game, holding the opposition under 10 goals.
Massachusetts was adequate on clears today, at 16-18. The Minutewomen ran out fast and did not let up, racing to a 9-2 lead at the end of the first period. Once they pulled ahead, they were impossible to catch, as they carried a 14-2 lead into the half and never looked back.
Massachusetts usual relentless defense stood strong, causing 16 La Salle turnovers. UMass again, was relentless early and often, recording a 25-9 advantage in finding quality shots.
UMass rolled to a 19-5 win, putting them at 7-0 and atop the A-10. Massachusetts will come home to Amherst to celebrate their seniors on Saturday, April 16 to battle the St Joeseph's University with a 12:00 p.m. first draw.
