UMass' Morrow Collects Third Hockey East Rookie Of The Week Accolade Of The Season

The defenseman hit the 30-point plateau for the season with a three-point weekend to help the Minutemen sweep Vermont.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey freshman defenseman Scott Morrow has been selected as the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday. It marks the third time this season that the Darien, Connecticut, native has earned the honor and is the ninth time a member of the Minutemen has received a weekly award this season.
Morrow had a three-point weekend in UMass' road sweep at Vermont, scoring his 11th and 12th goals of the season over the two contests and adding an assist in Saturday's 8-2 victory. His tally in Friday's 5-1 win came on the power play.
The three points brought Morrow's total to 30 on the season, making him just the fourth defenseman in program history to reach the 30-point plateau and first to do so as a freshman. His 12 goals currently ranks as the fifth-highest total by a defenseman in a single season in program history.
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, Morrow has 30 points in 31 games on 12 goals and 18 assists and is +9.
