Minutemen Draw With Bonnies At Rudd Field, 1-1

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at Rudd Field. The Minutemen (6-1-7 Overall, 1-0-5 Atlantic 10) controlled the majority of good chances at goal, finishing with a 26 to eight shot advantage.
UMass put six it its 26 shots on goal, led by two on target from Alec Hughes as he finished with a game-high eight shots on the afternoon. The Minutemen made a late push for the go-ahead goal, firing off three shots in the final six minutes including an attempt by Ryan Levay in the 90th-minute that sailed just wide left of goal as time ticked away.
Defensively, the Minutemen allowed just four shots per half and three shots on goal for the game. Matt Zambetti stopped two of the three shots he faced, with the Bonnies' lone goal coming by way of a Umechi Akuazaoku goal in the 22nd-minute that tied at 1-1.
The Minutemen continue Atlantic 10 play next weekend with a 1 p.m. kickoff at Davidson on Saturday before taking on No. 18-ranked Clemson on the road on Monday, Oct. 22.
