The 6-2, 175-pound goaltender was named NAHL Midwest Division MVP and to the All-NAHL Second Team this season.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6-2, 175-pound goaltender Luke Pavicich to its roster for 2021-22, it was announced on Friday. Pavicich comes to UMass from the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he was recently named NAHL Midwest Division MVP and to the All-NAHL Second Team. He joins graduate transfer forwards Matt Baker and Cam Donaldson, transfer defenseman Slava Demin and freshman forwards Eric DeDobbelaer, Ryan Lautenbach, Taylor Makar and Lucas Mercuri and freshman defenseman Scott Morrow as the ninth member of the Minutemen's incoming recruiting class.

"Luke is a Clarence Center, New York native who is an athletic goalie with good size and compete," said UMass head coach Greg Carvel. "He smothers a lot of pucks with his glove and is a gamer. He grew up playing for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres program and won a U15 National Championship. Luke really came into his own this past season for Kenai in the NAHL as he was a work horse; he finished in the top-10 in the league in save percentage, saves and minutes played while leading them to a playoff appearance."

In 36 regular season games in 2020-21, Pavicich registered a 2.86 goals against average and a .919 save percentage with two shutouts and a record of 19-14-1. He is ranked 16th among North American goaltenders in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings ahead of the 2021 NHL Draft.
