Hanya, Begliardi Ghidini Named To United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer graduate students Yosuke Hanya and Filippo Begliardi Ghidini were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team on Tuesday afternoon. The all-region selection marks the second for Hanya, who was named first team all-region a season ago.

Begliardi Ghidini (Ravenna, Italy) finished tied for third in the Atlantic 10 in goals with nine and game-winning goals with four on his way to ranking fourth in the league in points with 21 to earn second-team all-conference honors.The forward scored in five consecutive games, including three straight league matches on his way to earning Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week honors twice. Begliardi Ghidini put home four goals and added an assist in A-10 play, including goals against a top-25 ranked Saint Louis team and a game-winner at Davidson.

Hanya (Tokyo, Japan) finished tied for ninth in the Atlantic 10 in assists with five and led the Minutemen in the category on his way to earning A-10 Second Team All-Conference honors. The midfielder logged 1,538 minutes in the UMass midfield, helping the Minutemen to 1.20 goals per game in the process. Hanya picked up assists in conference road wins at Saint Joseph's and Davidson and scored a goal in a matchup at No. 10-ranked Pittsburgh.
