UMass’ Anthony Del Gaizo Named Hockey East Player Of The Week

The senior helped the Minutemen to a 1-0-1 weekend against UMass Lowell with a team-high four points.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey senior forward Anthony Del Gaizo has been named the Hockey East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It marks the first career honor for the Basking Ridge, New Jersey native and the fifth time this season that a member of the Minutemen has received a weekly accolade from the league.
Del Gaizo helped UMass to a 1-0-1 week with a team-high four points on three goals and an assist against No. 15 UMass Lowell. In Friday night's road contest against the River Hawks he netted the game-tying goal twice for his first career multi-goal game and his second of the night came with 1:27 remaining in regulation to force overtime as the Minutemen earned a hard-fought road point.
On Saturday Del Gaizo followed up with the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over No. 15 UMass Lowell at the Mullins Center and he set up the game opening power-play tally, posting his second consecutive multi-point game.
Del Gaizo already has 10 points (4g, 6a) on the season through 14 games and takes an active four-game point streak into Wednesday's contest at Merrimack.
