It will be a family friendly day so please feel free to invite any and all members of your family. The Alumni Game will be followed by our Conference home opener against St. Louis University. Below you will find the itinerary for what promises to be a fun day. Please register early as this help ensure we have enough food on hand for breakfast and lunch. Our Fall campaign is off to a good start. A hard earned 1-0 road win at Northeastern, followed two victories on Rudd, 4-0 over Sacred Heart, as well as 1-0 over BU. This is the first time since 1996 that our program has started the season with three shutouts. We are a young team, with all four goals against Sacred Heart coming from Freshmen and Sophomores. That being said, early signs indicate that we will get strong on and off field leadership from our returning Junior and Senior players.
A lot of exciting things have happened off the field over the last few months. The administration has thrown their support behind the program resulting in several significant upgrades. Big thanks to AD Ryan Bamford and Kirsten Britton, our Sports Program Administrator. Kirsten's extensive background in athletic facility building has ensured that our new enclosed grass practice facility will rank with the best. It looks fantastic and will be a big boost to our program. Rudd upgrades continue with the addition of a new scoreboard to go alongside the windscreens installed last year. Boyden Gym is getting a makeover with state of the art hot and cold baths being installed in the Athletic Training area. And a new ADIDAS contract ensures that our players are dressed as well as any Division I team in the country. Say bye bye to the "Boyden Grays."
Finally, a big Thank You to you, our Alumni and Friends! Any success we have had or will continue to have would not be possible without your generous support. Your support has allowed us create a 1st class development environment for our players. From the Catapult GPS tracking system (click here for additional information) to our Normatech Recovery Pants (normatecrecovery.com), such enhancements has allowed us to consistently compete at the upper echelons of the A-10 Conference. Having made the A-10 Playoff's for each of the past four seasons, we now aim to "Drive for 5" and make five consecutive play-off appearances for the first time in program history. A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to our 'Drive for 5" fundraising campaign. For those yet to contribute…it is not too late. Please consider making a donation and play your part in our collective "Drive for 5." Every penny donated will be used to improve the overall experience and performance of our players.
We have experienced an amazing amount of support so far, and are only $6,347 from hitting our goal of $75,000. I am challenging our alumni, parents and friends to reach the $75k goal by October 5th, in hopes of announcing on alumni weekend that we have completed our campaign. Many thanks for taking the time to read my note. We all look forward to welcoming you back to campus on Saturday October 5th.
Go UMass!
